21st Century and 1990's ExamThis is a featured page

Directions:

This is your first take-home WIKI exam. Here's how it is going to work. Each of you is going to choose two essays to address. In order to create an answer to the essay, we are going to work collaboratively. Underneath the essay question, you are going to add your THOUGHTS and EVIDENCE on how the question should be answered. You are not going to write the answer in essay form. You are going to write about HOW you would answer this question and WHAT you would include in the answer to support your thesis (main idea). Ready? You will be graded on the quality of your participation. Don’t be too brief and only write one sentence. Feel free to make constructive comments about your colleagues who are working on the same essay. I may have to put a limit on how many people can answer each of the essays, but let’s try to spread our efforts equitably among the eight questions. This does count as a TEST GRADE. Remember, we are working together on this exam. Once we have enough feedback and evidence, we are going to write the essay together. We’ll schedule time in the computer lab to finish this assignment.

21st Century Essays:

1. Describe the changes in American foreign policy concerning two of the five regions discussed (Asia, Russia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) in recent years. Specifically focus on 1) events that occurred that caused changes in our relations and 2) the effects of those changes on our foreign policy.

EXAMPLE: YOUR NAME - I think this essay question is really about blah, blah, blah. Here's some of the evidence I would use in answering this question: blah, blah and blah. I think the thesis should be blah, blah, blah because blah, blah, blah.

2. Consider the causes of the current economic crisis as well as elements of the TARP funds and/or the economic stimulus plan. Then assess the validity of the following statement: President Obama’s economic plan will effectively address the causes of the current crisis.

3. Using your knowledge of the events and issues of the American War on Terror since 9/11/01, assess the validity of the following statement: The War on Terror has been a success. Cite three reasons to support your thesis.

4. Imagine you are a historian in 2020 writing an article for publication in a high school history textbook on the Iraq War. How would you summarize the events and issues of the war? What conclusions would you draw?

Post Cold War World Essays:

1. Race relations have defined our nation’s history. Many historians agree that ‘if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it’. What three lessons do you believe Americans have learned from the history of race relations in this country? Use three examples to support your thesis from the period of 1990-2009.

2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans have benefitted greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990’s and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer.

4. Imagine you are a historian in 2020 writing an article for publication in a high school history textbook on the Clinton presidency. How would you summarize the events and issues of his administration? What conclusions would you draw?

21st Century Essays: 2) Consider the causes of the current economic crisis as well as elements of the TARP funds and/or the economic stimulus plan. Then assess the validity of the following statement: President Obama’s economic plan will effectively address the causes of the current crisis.

The Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) is a program issued by the United States government in 2008. This $700 billion plan was initially intended to be delivered to banks to aid certain indivials who were in need of restoring their stability and security financially. Fundamentally, the plan was to address the deflation of the subprime mortgages crisis.
I would finish this essay by adding more facts and information on this major topic.

Post Cold War Essay: 3) Explain the costs and benefits of the NAFTA on the American economy. Choose one of the three positions and defend it with evidence: 1) NAFTA should be ended, 2) NAFTA should be continued, and 3) NAFTA should be reformed.

I would address this question by elaborating on the topic of NAFTA and explaining how it has positively and negatively affected each of the three countries ; The United States, Mexico, and Canada. I would then state my take on whether or not to support the North American Free Trade Agreement. The costs and benfits would also be addressed.

#4 21st Century essay
This essay question is really about what are some of the important issues of the Iraq war and how it is now in the future. To answer this I will say that Pres. Bush was suspicious of the Iraqis people and he sent in authorizations for weapons inspections. So later the U.S sent of thousands of troops. Our major job was to restore order to Iraq. In the future and presently right now before Barrack Obama became our present president, Pres. Bush and his policy makers increased the number of troops in Iraq. In the future as of right now we are still at war in Iraq. Hopefully Pres. Barrack Obama will begin to pull our troops out and I had that the president of Iraq wants to sit down with Barrack and dicuss what they are going to do now.

# 2 Post Cold War World Essay
This question deals with how technology that really boomed in the 90's helped us and how now in the future we have advanced. I will say like how in the 90's we had computers but when the dot.com boom happened it changed us technology forever. Businesses could put advertisments on the computer and become very popular. Another thing that helped us in the technology world was modern technology and the developement of the Internet. It became a way for people to connect and talk to each other and also it replaced the radio and the T.V in a big way. Another innovation that has helped us the use of robotics. It was used to help remote control planes and missiles. Also it was used in industrialism for helping to manufacture things in factories and companies. The last innovation was the further use of space exploration. They used this by going on planets and using it for satellites. It was created by the military. The six branches of the military now use it.
