21st Century Essays: 2) Consider the causes of the current economic crisis as well as elements of the TARP funds and/or the economic stimulus plan. Then assess the validity of the following statement: President Obama’s economic plan will effectively address the causes of the current crisis.
The Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) is a program issued by the United States government in 2008. This $700 billion plan was initially intended to be delivered to banks to aid certain indivials who were in need of restoring their stability and security financially. Fundamentally, the plan was to address the deflation of the subprime mortgages crisis. I would finish this essay by adding more facts and information on this major topic. Post Cold War Essay: 3) Explain the costs and benefits of the NAFTA on the American economy. Choose one of the three positions and defend it with evidence: 1) NAFTA should be ended, 2) NAFTA should be continued, and 3) NAFTA should be reformed. I would address this question by elaborating on the topic of NAFTA and explaining how it has positively and negatively affected each of the three countries ; The United States, Mexico, and Canada. I would then state my take on whether or not to support the North American Free Trade Agreement. The costs and benfits would also be addressed. |

#4 21st Century essay
This essay question is really about what are some of the important issues of the Iraq war and how it is now in the future. To answer this I will say that Pres. Bush was suspicious of the Iraqis people and he sent in authorizations for weapons inspections. So later the U.S sent of thousands of troops. Our major job was to restore order to Iraq. In the future and presently right now before Barrack Obama became our present president, Pres. Bush and his policy makers increased the number of troops in Iraq. In the future as of right now we are still at war in Iraq. Hopefully Pres. Barrack Obama will begin to pull our troops out and I had that the president of Iraq wants to sit down with Barrack and dicuss what they are going to do now. # 2 Post Cold War World Essay This question deals with how technology that really boomed in the 90's helped us and how now in the future we have advanced. I will say like how in the 90's we had computers but when the dot.com boom happened it changed us technology forever. Businesses could put advertisments on the computer and become very popular. Another thing that helped us in the technology world was modern technology and the developement of the Internet. It became a way for people to connect and talk to each other and also it replaced the radio and the T.V in a big way. Another innovation that has helped us the use of robotics. It was used to help remote control planes and missiles. Also it was used in industrialism for helping to manufacture things in factories and companies. The last innovation was the further use of space exploration. They used this by going on planets and using it for satellites. It was created by the military. The six branches of the military now use it. |

3. Using your knowledge of the events and issues of the American War on Terror since 9/11/01, assess the validity of the following statement: The War on Terror has been a success. Cite three reasons to support your thesis.
The first thing I will do is that I will start with a thesis statement like “The War on Terror since 9/11 has been successful. The three facts that I will add to support my thesis is 1.) American soldiers capture Saddam Hussein and we put him on trail for the killing of his people. 2.) We have brought democracy to the country of Iraq. 3.) We have decrease the violence in Iraq. 2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans have benefitted greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990’s and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer. To answer this question, my thesis would be “America had benefit greatly to the technological innovations of the 90s. My five facts would be 1.)The internet, 2.) Dolly the sheep is cloned, 3.) The beginning of the Human Genome Project, 4.) International Space Station and 5.) The CD burner. |

Sorry my contributions are late...wireless internet network was on the fritz -_-
To discuss some of the reasons for the economic crisis i would include discussing irresponsible bank lending. I would discuss how due to variable rates and fine print on the contracts, that people were signing into loans they could not pay for and inevitably would lose their homes. This would then lead to circulation of bad credit. The first half of Bush's 700billion dollar plan was then waisted by the banks in private use when it was supposed to be used to get good credit into the hands of citizens who could afford responsible loans. The new stimulus plan that our new president has created right now has ALOT of excess spending completely unrelated to stimulating the economy, and i feel that if it is not edited to remove some of the "pork" in the plan that the plan will be relatively ineffective. It could only further drag down our dollars value and cause more trouble that it is worth. I feel that if they can cut out all of this excess the plan will work to our country's advantage and will temporarily stimulate the economy so we can start getting people back to work to get our economy boosted for the long run. For this essay i would argue that people have definitely benefited greatly for technology that has been created since the 1990's. The invention of more modernized cellular phones, and other hand held wireless communication devices have allowed people to have access not only to information wherever they are, but also everyone else in the world no matter where they are. The more the world is connected the better and more efficiently it can operate. So if your sitting on a bench at the park and you realize you need some research for a paper your writing, then all you need to do is pull out that blackberry and boom the internet is in your hands. That is just one example of how we have benefited. I'm sure everyone else has more ideas. |

to answer this question, the three lessons i would say Americans have learned from the history of race relations in the country, is that 1. America's face is changing, very quickly. If American's learnt anything about race relations, it's that the number of minorities in the country are greatly growing and will soon overpopulate the majority race. The Hispanic Community is the fastest growing minority in America, with Asian minorities close behind. No longer is the White farmer or business man the face of the country. Instead we have hispanic women in engineering, law along with african american's in the military, and on farms. 2. Many minorities suffer the most of catastrophies. As evident from Hurricane Katrina, many of the people whom escaped New Orleans were predominantly white. Left behind was the african american, and hispanic communities as well as many other minority groups living in the lower ends of the city. The Hurricane hit them the hardest and caused chaos. Katrina showed us that racial or ethnic minorities in the country hurt the most from such disasters. 3. Finally i would say, American's have learnt that race can never and shouldn't ever hold a person down. Pres. Obama's election showed us that race can never hold us back from what we really can achieve.

3. Using your knowledge of the events and issues of the American War on Terror since 9/11/01, assess the validity of the following statement: The War on Terror has been a success. Cite three reasons to support your thesis.
To answer this question, I would begin with a thesis statement like: "The War on Terror has been a success for America in some ways, but in others, it has done harm. Then I would begin staing some things that have happened since 9/11: - the removal of Saddam Hussein from Iraq's government, along with his capture and execution. (good) - the money that went into funding the War on Terror - over $500 billion (bad) - American lives lost - over 4000 and ongoing (bad) Each of these reasons would have its own paragraph with supporting details and then I would include a conclusive statement. 2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans have benefitted greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990’s and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer. To answer this question I'd start with a thesis statement like: "Many people say that new technoogy will put more people out of work and make the crisis worse, but new technology also creates jobs and is part of just about everyones daily life. " I would then write a paragraph explaining the significance of each of the follwing subjects: - everyday technologies (cell phones, IPods, etc.) - automobiles and other transportations - the advancements in the medical field - how the internet changed everything - military advancements (new weapons and other technologies) I would then follow all this up with a conclusion paragraph wrapping it all up. |

To answer the first question on publicizing the Iraq war in a text book I would start with a few basic things. The first thing I would state is my thesis which would be, The war in Iraq was an unsupported war by the U.S. citizens but the real meaning behind this war wasn't just revenge there were actually just causes for it. Then I would support my thesis with the following points which would be included in my 3 paragraphs of detail.
- The relations between Iraq and Afghanistan are almost just as good of a reason to go in. We knew that Iraq had to have something to do with the attacks on 911. -We knew Saddam had weapons of mass destruction because we had supplied him with them in the 80's. -A dictator was thriving the oppressed people had to be saved. To answer the question on the Clinton presidency I would first start it with my thesis being that the Clinton presidency was a much loved one by the U.S. people but in truth not all was so great. Then I would support it with the following detail. -Clinton put our country in a lot of DEBT. -He was impeached -He started many public programs that benefit those that are in need but those programs can easily be abused and it is coming out of tax payer’s money - He was behind many scandals |

2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans benefitted greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990's and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer.
I believe that Americans did benefit greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990's and beyond. People use technology everyday such as cell phones, online access, doctors, and scientists. Everyday doctors and scientists are using technology to find out how to cure different diseases and about different procedures. I think cell phones and online access are also really helpful because it helps people communicate and find out new information about almost any topic. I think technology greatly benefits people and is being advanced every day to be even more helpful then it already is. |

3. Using your knowledge of the events and issues of the American War on Terror since 9/11/01, assess then validity of the following statement: The War on Terror has been a success. Cite three reasons to support your thesis.
I believe this statement is completely invalid. I think the War on Terror has not been a success at all. Since the War on Terror foreign policies have changed. A lot of countries thought it was wrong for the US to attack Iraq since they didn't have any weapons of mass destruction. Other countries thought we should of gone right after Afghanistan. Also many lives have been lost from this war. This war seems to be going on forever when not much change or information has been gathered from it. I think this war is waisting our time and it should be stopped. |

1. Describe the changes in American foreign policy concerning two of the five regions discussed (Asia, Russia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) in recent years. Specifically focus on 1) events that occurred that caused changes in our relations and 2) the effects of those changes on our foreign policy.
In order to answer this essay question, I would first think of our relationship with each nation in regards to foreign policy. Then I would relate events that occurred which affected the US with the nations listed above. I would then write about how each event shaped our foreign policy over time. 2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans have benefited greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990’s and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer. First of all, I would be a supporter of the statement. To back up my opinion I would address a handful of technological advances we have recently made. I would then discuss how each innovation affected America and its people for the better. I would also include how America could continue to benefit from the use of technology in the future by talking about further advances in technology that may be possible. |

2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans have benefitted greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990’s and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer.
To answer this question I would first of all support the statement. My thought of how the thesis should be is, "I agree to the statement that Americans have benefitted greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990's and beyond for several supportive reasons that we have needed these advances.", because I think it is a great way to top it all off. The five specific examples i would use are: 1) the internet as one of the greatest inventions ever, brought to the public during the 90's, 2) space exploration figuring out much more about our universe at the time, 3) health and medical treatment advancements finding new cures and saving more lives, 4) the creating of more robotic advancements, and 5) the new sources of energy found on our planet and put to work for us to save money and other limited sources of energy. Then, obviously i would finish by supporting all my examples with a little more detail. |

- In order to answer this essay question, I would first think about the pros and cons that came out of the American War on Terror. This question states for us to write about how the War on Terror was a success. I would think about how this war brought our country closer, how everyone pitched in and helped each other out. Our country is becoming a lot safer and more cautious. The US is no longer letting any group or country or individual walk all over it. The War on Terror has influenced our country greatly, making it a closer nation. Imagine you are a historian in 2020 writing an article for publication in a high school history textbook on the Iraq War. How would you summarize the events and issues of the war? What conclusions would you draw? -I would research every important detail on the Iraq War. I would look for how it affected our country, how it affected the countries surrounding it, and how it will affect everyone in the future. Our goal was to completely stop terrorism, and it changed our country completely. Foreign policy was changed as well as how the people live today. Security is raised and now our country is a lot more cautious than it ever has been. |

2. Consider the causes of the current economic crisis as well as elements of the TARP funds and/or the economic stimulus plan. Then assess the validity of the following statement: President Obama’s economic plan will effectively address the causes of the current crisis.
Considering that I'm a citizen of the U.S.A going through this Recession, i find this essay question one of the most appealing to answer. I would answer this question by first stating most of the main causes, such as the FED cutting interest rates making credit cheaper, home buyers taking advantage of easy credit, and mortgage brokers giving people with bad credit the opportunity to get loans. Also, I think the thesis should be, "The causes of the current economic crisis and the elements of the economic stimulus plan we hope to cure it with, have both been depended on Americans greatly.", because this is what the question focuses on. Second, I would state some of the elements of Obama's recovery plan, like the goals of creating millions of more jobs for the unemployed, doubling renewable energy production, computerizing our health records, and launching the most ambitious school moedrnization program ever. Finally, I would state how that statement could be valid, and also invalid because all the money needed for this plan to work might cause even more of a crisis. |

4. Imagine you are a historian in 2020 writing an article for publication in a high school history textbook on the Iraq War. How would you summarize the events and issues of the war? What conclusions would you draw?
The Iraq war was a very hard time for the people. I happened between the years of 2003-2010. The economy went through a crisis not just the U.S but the rest of the world also. There was a change in foreign policy our major goal now was to attack the terrorists. The U.S also entered its highest state of nuclear alert. On Dec 23 2005 Saddam and his son were captured then later executed. The Iraq was one of the worst wars the U.S went through. 2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans have benefitted greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990’s and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer. I agree with this statement because we are always adapting to new technology. Such as the internet, space exploration, medical treatments, cell phones. They are all everyday things that change our lives and we use everyday. We can use the internet to communicate with our friends and family all around the world and research information and expand our knowledge. Now everything is controlled by satellites that’s where space exploration comes in. there are more and more diseases and with the medical study we are able to cure and treat most of them. Cell phones are the main way people communicate with other people. |

Using your knowledge of the events and issues of the American War on Terror since 9/11/01, assess the validity of the following statement: The War on Terror has been a success. Cite three reasons to support your thesis.
The War on Terror has helped our culture develop and become stong . In three ways in which it helped our culture is unification, security, and confindence. This war has brought our country together, after 9'11 everywhere in America a American flag was raised high in the air. We as Americans showed that terrorist will not and can not hurt us, they as a whole we stay strong. Security has been raised to a point where the thought of another attack is near to a thing which will never happen. Our country has showed other countries they we will fight. That there is no way that like the time in Somalia where we backed out. This evidence proves that this War has affected America in such great ways. |

To answer this essay question i would talk about every since 9/11 and the war in Iraq it has been a disaster. Now the evidence that i would use to support it is 1.) We have spent over $ 1 trillion dollars after the bush administration alone and are looking towards 3 trillion ( washington post article) 2.) Also we could have stop the 9/11 innicident all together, beacuase there were eailer attacks in the 1990's and the Clinton Administration should of took this into conideration. 3.) The U.S government wasted 8 years in Iraq , when they should of been in Afganistan looking for Osama Bin Ladin.

1. Race relations have defined our nation’s history. Many historians agree that ‘if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it’. What three lessons do you believe Americans have learned from the history of race relations in this country? Use three examples to support your thesis from the period of 1990-2009.
I believe this essay question is well stated and is asks you the question straight out, and the problems we are facing. For my answer I would go into a little detail of why and how these things will repeat themselves. There for I will back it up and give examples on how it will repeat it’s self through history. 4. Imagine you are a historian in 2020 writing an article for publication in a high school history textbook on the Clinton presidency. How would you summarize the events and issues of his administration? What conclusions would you draw? This is straight out asking how you would gather information on Clinton. I would take the administrations most important stories then reduce that two a few pages, maybe making that one section of a chapter. But that one section is on the events and the next section would be on the issues in this era. Lastly I would conclude that the Clinton presidency was an important aspect in history. |

2. Support or oppose the following statement: Americans have benefited greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990’s and beyond. Use five specific examples to highlight your answer. -I completely agree that Americans have benefited greatly from the technological innovations of the 1990s and beyond. The internet, medical advancements, and the influx of new technological inventions designed to help us broaden out knowledge of otherwise unreachable topics are just three of the ways technology has improved our lives as Americans. Some may produce the counter argument that 'Technology is making jobs obsolete by programming them into robots.' This is true. However, when one considers the plethora of well-paying jobs being created by new technological advancements (ie.; computer technicians, remote control specialists, etc.), it can be said that this trade-off comes at an acceptable expense to the American people.
